LANCASHIRE EVENING POST REPORT Week one at the Preston City Pool League and starting with new boys Old Original Withy Trees who were playing last seasons runners-up Hendry Z. The OOWT took the first with a win from Carl Bromley but the Zs took the next three with wins from Lee Anderson, Ste Crane and Chris Wilkinson. Duncan Wilkinson pulled a frame back but it was not to be as the Zs took the rest of the frames and the match starting with a cool 8 baller in the doubles from Lee Anderson and Chris Wilkinson. Other winners were Aidy Alty and Garry Clarke ending the tie 2-10 to Hendry Zs and giving them TEAM OF THE WEEK. Old Oak next and they entertained Team Hendry and after the first five singles and a game of doubles it was all square at 3-3 with Louise Kearns taking two of the frames and Deb Phillips the other for Team Hendry and for the Oak was Terry Ashton, Andy Livesey and Mark Langan. The second half was a lot different as Team Hendry ran riot taking 5 out of a possible 6, acouple a piece for Alison Parkes and Anne Roccia, one from Dave Phillips and making it three out of three for the night PLAYER OF THE WEEK Louise Kearns. Darren Eccles won the only frame in the second half ending the tie 8-4 to Team Hendry. Black Horse next and they were playing another new team Waggon Wobblies. It didn't start that bad for the Wobblies after three frames they were 2-1 up wins from Joel Barlow and Kieron Wayman. Unfortunately these were the last frames the Wobblies were going to get as the Black Horse took them apart. Three for Alex Shaw and Eddie Bolton, two for Simon Firth and John Hodgson and a frame a piece for Rob and Dave Cuerden. The match ended 10-2 to the Black Horse. Hendrys Ainsdales welcomed yet another new side this one from The Ley Inn. The first half in this one went to 3-3 with the Ainsdales winners Pat Edmundson, Danny Garratt and Wayne Corless, and the Ley Inn winners were Joey Smith and Matty Rimmer who also partnered Corey Collins in the first leg of doubles and made a great 8 baller. The second half was a bit different as the Ley Inn took all the single frames giving them the match with 3 out of 3 for Matty Rimmer, 2 out of 2 for Joey Smith and Corey Collins, and a frame a piece for Anthony Stafford and Adam Shears. Ainsdales took the last doubles with wins from Andy Barlow and Danny Garratt ending the tie 8-4 to the Ley Inn. Our last game was at the Mill Tavern who played Rileys D&G and it was another game which the first half ended 3-3. D&G took the first three wins from Dan Brightey, Tina Underdown and Andy Rutland. The Taverns response was two frames a piece for Chris Bateson and Lee Youd. The second half was just same finishing all square at 6-6 Week 2 at the Preston City Pool League and starting this week at the Ley Inn who when to the top of the table with a convincing win over Old Original Withy Trees 10-2. Malcolm Taylor got the first then a cool 8 baller from Corey Collins with the second. Alan Sholick pulled a frame back but five in a row from the Ley Inn sealed the match, three in a row for Malcolm Taylor, Matty Rimmer and Corey Collins and with his 8 baller makes him PLAYER OF THE WEEK. Rick Greenhalgh got a second for O.O.W.T, but with two from Anthony Spafford and a frame from Dave Taylor that finished a great win for the Ley Inn. Next up is our two big winners from last week Hendry Z who were entertaining the Black Horse. The Zs took the first three with wins from Lee Anderson, Chris Wilkinson and Ste Crane. The Black Horse soon caught up as Alex Shaw won his then Rob Cuerden and Simon Firth won theirs and partnered each other in the first half doubles giving the Black Horse a frame lead. Phil Beere levelled the tie only for Rob Cuerden to win his third of the night and a win from Dave Cuerden put the Black Horse on 6 and could not get beat. Hendry Z got the last two frames with wins from Aidy Alty in the singles and he partnered Gary Clarke in the doubles to end the game 6-6. Another team to make it two out of two is Team Hendry they beat Hendry Young Guns 9-3. Three out of three for Linda Rees, two each for Louise Kearns, Dave Phillips, Deb Phillips and Alison Parkes. The only winners from the Young Guns were a double from Craig Rowe and a frame from Glenn Kitchener. This week Team Hendry get TEAM OF THE WEEK. Hendrys Ainsdales travelled to Riley D&G and came away with a 7-5 victory. After the first half the honours were even at 3-3 but Ainsdales took their chances and sealed the match with Danny Garratt getting three out of three, two wins for Andy Barlow and Sam Leeming and a frame apiece for Richard Garratt and Tristan Stevenson. For Rileys two wins for Dan Brightey and Zoe Corbett and a frame from Michelle Sharrock. Last up and after their disappointing result last week the Old Oak needed a big win to keep up with the leaders and after travelling to the Waggon Wobblies in Leyland were happy to come away with a 9-3 victory. Chris Bullen and Mark Langan got three out of three, two frames for Terry Ashton and a frame apiece for Andy Livesey and Darren Eccles. Winners for the Wobblies were Lee Bolton and Mike Boden who partnered Joel Barlow in the doubles. Week 3 and after two crushing defeats Old Original Withy Trees powered to a 11-1 victory against Rileys D&G. It was nearly a clean sweep only for Zoe Corbett and Dan Brightey winning the last game of doubles. Carl Bromley and Allan Sholick got three out of three, Duncan Wilkinson and Mick Dotherty won two and a win a piece for Andy Dolphin and Rick Greenhalgh grabbed a frame each. With such a big win they must take TEAM OF THE WEEK The Black Horse got themselves back to winning ways as they welcomed league leaders The Ley Inn and with an 8-4 win seamed to make light work of it. After six frames they were all square at three a piece with Dave Cuerden, John Hodgson and Simon Firth winning for the Horse and Matty Rimmer, Joey Smith and Corey Collins winning for the Ley Inn. The Black Horse tightened the screw winning 4 out of the next 5 frames then taking the doubles. This week with a great three out of three PLAYER OF THE WEEK goes to Simon Firth. Hendry Z came away with a great win against The Old Oak winning 8-4. After the first half it 3-3 and looking like a good game but once again the Oak crumbled in the second half with them only taking the final frame the doubles. Two wins for Ste Crane, Phil Beere and Aidy Alty. Richard Woan and Garry Clarke also got a frame each made it look easy for Hendry Z. In the remaining games Mill Tavern got a great win 8-4 away to Hendry Ainsdale and Hendry Young Guns 6-6 with Waggon Wobblies Week 4 at the Preston City Pool League and the Wagon Wobblies have taken their first victory by beating Team Hendry 7-5. In the first half the match was level with Wobblies wins coming from a double from Danny Leighton and a frame from Matty Williams and Tom Turner. Hendrys reply came from Anne Roccia, Dave Phillips and Alison Parkes. In the second half Tom Turner and Matty Williams got their second of the night and a win from Richard Baker put the Wobblies in an unbeatable position. Alison Parkes and Anne Roccia gave Hendrys a chance of a draw but with his third of the night Tom Turner partnering Richard Baker with his second gave the match to Wagon Wobblies and with that win take TEAM OF THE WEEK. Our other new boys Old Origonal Withy Trees also got a great win away at the Mill Tavern 9-3. Carl Bromley got the first with a fine 8 baller then Lee Youd levelled and Chris Bateson took the lead for the Mill Tavern. A double next for the O.O.W.T as Andy Dolphin and Rik Gtreenhalgh put the game back in their favour. A second win for Chris Bateson partnering Andy Bateson levelled for the second time. That was the last frame the Tavern were to win as the O O W T swept the table. Two frames for Mick Doherty, Andy Dolphin, Rick Greenhalgh and Carl Bromley and with his 8 baller he takes PLAYER OF THE WEEK. Duncan Wilkinson and Alan Scholick also had a frame a piece. Another team with a crushing win was the Old Oak who beat The Ley Inn 9-3. Three out of three for Chris Bullen, two wins for Andy Livesey, Terry Ashton and Richard Fielding and a frame for Mark Langan. The only winners for the Ley Inn were Malcom Taylor and Anthony Spafford with two each. After last week big defeat Rileys D&G took a good draw against The Black Horse. Andy Rutland, Luke Swarbrick (one an 8 baller) and Anthony Underdown all with two frames and a frame for Wendy Knight were the Rileys winners. As for the Black Horse it wasd two for Alex Shaw and a frame each for Rob and Dave Cuerden, John Hodgson and Eddie Bolton. Hendry Z made light work of Hendry Young Guns as they beat them 8-4. Three out of three for Lee Anderson and Phil Beere, two out of two for Chris Wilkinson and a frame each for Garry Clarke and Ste Crane. Young Guns winners were Martin Butcher, Jason Hill and two for Craig Rowe one an 8 baller.
